Taking Manhood Back

Real Men Obey by Ed Ortega

Here is the first blog entry I have chosen. It is written by Ed Ortega. A great read!!! Congrats Ed!

From a far, they can hear the galloping of the horses. They can see clouds of dust rising from the ground as the chariots, more than six hundred in number, rush toward them. The enemies of God’s chosen people are fast approaching. Fury blazing in their eyes. The blood-thirsty Egyptians are coming.

The Israelites look back, but there’s nowhere to go.  Just water, deep water.  The sea ahead of them was like a locked gate with a “Do Not Enter” sign hung on it. Then they blame the man who was responsible for bringing them there. “Did you bring us here because there were no graves in Egypt? So that we die in the desert instead?”

He replied, “Do not be afraid. The Lord will deliver us!” He raised his staff and stretched out his hand over the sea. Strong winds began to blow the water, dividing the sea into two. The “Do Not Enter” sign was nowhere to be found. The gate was now wide open.

What happened?

It’s simple.

He obeyed.

God told Moses to raise his staff and to stretch out his hand over the sea. And so he did.

Like Moses, REAL MEN obey. They obey even if they will look like a bunch of weirdos. They obey even if they know a lot of people will find them funny or “un-cool”. They obey even if people will disagree. They obey even if it hurts. Why? It’s because it is God whom they obey.

When you’re alone in front of the computer, will you go to that website because you know that no one is watching? When you’re almost late for work, will you beat that red light because no traffic enforcer is in sight? When your wife, girlfriend or siblings need some rebuking, do you back off because they might get hurt with what you’re about to tell them?

Or are you man enough to stand up for what God tells you to do? Are you man enough to obey Him?

Are you a REAL MAN?

“For just as through the disobedience of one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of one man the many will be made righteous.” – Romans 5:19 NIV
