First Things First

Taking Manhood Back

First Things First

My wife Thammie has been reading the book “First Things First” by Stephen Covey. I think the title is a good reminder for us to do things that only we can do. I always tell myself that I can only be the husband to my wife, the father of my kids. The other things I can delegate.

Same goes with Thammie. Though I pastor the church, she is not the “pastor’s wife”. She doesn’t get any salary to play the role. Her only role is to be my wife, the mother of my kids and to make disciples as a Christian.

If we focus on who we are, it makes us say no to things that might look important but is really not. Some might shout urgency but you always go back to the question: ” What are the things that only I can do?”As we live out the roles that only we can do, it makes our marriage more exciting, work fulfilling and it reduces the stress level by humongous proportions.

C. S. Lewis, “When first things are put first, second things are not suppressed but increased.”
