Courage in the Valley

Taking Manhood Back

Courage in the Valley

The moment you enter the Valley of Shadow of Death, things change. You discover that Christianity is not something doughy, passive, pious, and soft… The life of belief teems with thrills, boldness, danger, shocks, reversals, triumphs and epiphanies.

– Tony Snow, “Cancer’s Unexpected Blessings”

A man cannot get courage on his own. Left to his own, man is afraid. Personally, I cannot make risk if I have no concept of God. It is because I know that my God is sovereign and that God is with me that I take the risks I take. I know that everything is under control when it seems out of control. That is how God gives me the courage.

Anais Nin said ,”Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” True in a sense but I think life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s dependency on God. If you know who your God is, it gives you a new level of courage.

God did not give us a spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind.

I need courage to be faithful to my wife.

I need courage to not get suck into pornography.

I need courage to tackle difficult issues with my kids.

I need courage to do what is right in the office and in my workplace.

I need courage to leave my family and cleave to my spouse.

I need courage to stand up for my convictions.

I need courage to go against the flow of this world.

Courage is total dependency on God. When I am weak, God shows himself strong.
