Are you a Team Player???
Reading now the book of Jim Collin, “Great by Choice: Uncertainty, Chaos, and Luck–Why Some Thrive Despite Them All“, and it talks about great companies who are still great after so many years that they have outperformed their competitors more than 10x. One of the common denominator is that great companies have leaders who does not want to hog the limelight. He does not take credit for the success of the organization but shares it with everyone.
As a man, we are sometimes tempted to do some grandstanding in our workplace and even in our homes. When there is success, we try to take credit but if something fails, we put the blame on our wife, our kids and our co-workers. It is a pathetic practice. In basketball, para kang buhaya. You want to get all the credit.
Real men, when asked about who was responsible for the success – defers the limelight and deflects it to his team.
