The Truth About You
Last year I read a short book by Marcus Buckingham called The Truth About You: Your Secret to Success which I shared with my staff. It is a book I would highly recommend for everyone who is serious about his work and career path. I think every man should read this. It is an easy read book. Here are some notes I had on The Truth About You: Your Secret to Success
Truth #1: As you grow, you become more and more of who you already are.
Never turn your weakness into Strengths. That’s the way life is. You are not perfect. The grace of God is there. If your weakness is something you do, then it’s something you can do something about.
Truth #2: You grow most in your areas of greatest strength.
– a weakness is any activity that leaves you feeling weaker after you do it. It doesn’t matter how good you are at it or how much money you make doing it, if doing it drains your energy, you’d be crazy to build your career around it.
– A strength is the opposite. It is any activity that makes you strong. Go beyond what you’re good at and pay really close attention to what youre feeling before, during, and after an activity.
Truth #3: A great team player volunteers his strengths to the team most of the time and deliberately partners with people who have different strengths.
People join because of the WHY. They stay because of the WHO. And in the end they quit because of the WHAT.
