More than 200 years ago the US Marines was formed. They were thinking of an appropriate motto for their group. They ended up with the Latin phrase Semper Fidelis – meaning ALWAYS FAITHFUL.
If you are a marine – you are expected to be faithful always. Not only in the good times but also during the worst and challenging times of your life.
We can learn a very powerful principle from the marines. Semper Fidelis – always faithful not only during in times of wealth, health and everything is going your way, but also in moments of hardship, strife, suffering, sickness, till death do us part.
We have to erase the mentality we have today – “I am no longer happy, thus I have the right to look for a new spouse.”
Remember the commitment you entered in. It is bound not just by a marriage certificate but a covenant with God.
Semper Fidelis is not a promise you just make on your wedding day. Being faithful applies every single day of your married life. It will be a choice that you have to make till the day you die.
We need more men who would exemplify Semper Fidelis not just in the marines but also in marriage and family. Be responsible even when it is inconvenient. Be faithful even if it ruins your pursuit of happiness.
