Taking Manhood Back

“Many people worry so much about managing their careers but rarely spend half that much energy managing their lives. I want to make my life, not just my job, the best it can be. The rest will work itself out.”

– Reese Witherspoon

Growing up I was listening to some motivational tapes of Zig Ziglar and he starts asking the crowd to rate themselves as a person. And then he tells them to rate themselves as a father and then a son and then a worker. He then ended the exercise by saying that how you rank yourself as a person is the same points you need to give yourself in every area of life.

I think that was a very powerful concept because we have to see ourselves as who we really are. We tend to compartmentalize everything. We have our career life, our Christian life, our daddy life and etc. But we forgot a very important principle. It is all you. It is YOU.

Dennis Sy is Dennis Sy the father, the son and the blogger ( you thought I’ll write the Holy Spirit). I need to be consistently me. I can’t be someone who I am not. I cannot be this motivational leader in the workplace and a demotivational father at home. It’s hypocrisy. I need to be me.
