20 Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice; 21 at the head of the noisy streets she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks: 23 If you turn at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you.
28 Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me. 29 Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord, 30 would have none of my counsel and despised all my reproof, 31 therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices. 32 For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroys them; 33 but whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.”
There is no shortage of wisdom. In the same breath there is no shortage of foolishness. Madami tayong wisdom na mapupulot especially in our internet age. Pero madami din tayong mapupulot na mga maling values at worldly wisdom – yung mga parang malalim at maganda pakinggan pero pag kinompara mo sa Bible parang opposite.
The Bible says that wisdom is calling. All we need is to get wisdom from God. That is an offer you can’t refuse but sadly a lot of people refuse the offer. We have heard people say that biblical values are passe – old fashion, boring and lifeless. That is why you have a lot of non-practicing Christians. They go to church regularly but it is as if church life is different from their life. Walang power yung gospel sa buhay nila. Naka dichotomize ang buhay. May pang linggo at may pang araw-araw.
When we refuse God’s wisdom, the Bible warns that we are on our own. I think that is the scariest thing for me. To be on my own. Wala si Lord. Hindi ko ma imagine – sa marriage namin wala si Lord, sa fathering ko wala si Lord, sa trabaho ko wala si Lord. Katakot isipin but that is what Scripture says when we reject the Lord’s wisdom.
Wisdom is calling…. sagutin mo na!
