Stewarding God’s assets goes beyond just stewarding the money given to us. In light of the covenant you will see that the blessing has a purpose.
Genesis 12:3 “All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
More than just managing God’s money, it is actually managing God’s purpose. Wealth without purpose is meaningless, boring and empty.
Proverbs 21:20 The wise have wealth and luxury, but fools spend whatever they get.
Most Christians agree that we are just managers, but few live as though it were true. When we experience the covenant of blessing, we tend to forget the giver of the blessing and focus on the blessing. Instead of gratitude, we become greedy. Instead of managing, we feel entitled to the blessing. We shift from being rich (already partakers of the covenant) to getting rich (trying to hoard the covenant blessing). It is foolish of us to try to covet something that is already ours.
