Habakkuk 2:2 English Standard Version (ESV)
2 And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.
It’s the second day of our five day fasting and I’m finishing up on the book Believe That You Can: Moving with Faith and Tenacity to the Dream God Has Given You and I am reminded of something I read about writing the God given vision so those who read it may run with it.
We have to write down what we believe God is calling us to do for the reason that when we read it, we may run with it and those who read it will fight with you and run with you. I shared to our staff how this year my rally cry is my health and see-saw weight. I want them to fight with me. So during lunch, somebody had chocolates and approached me and he was reminded that I don’t need chocolates now because I want to be serious with my health – and so he turned back and said -“Oh right!”
My pastor Ferdie Cabling is a runner – an intense one. He is now preparing to run 250km (from Manila to Baguio). I know it’s crazy since driving to Baguio is tiring but he is running to Baguio. When you ask him what keeps him going on and wanting to finish the race – it’s his vision. He runs for his child – John Philip. He said during tough times he would think of John Philip and it gave him that extra push that he needs to finish the race.
It is the same way with our walk with God. We need to run with the vision God commands us. He tells us to go and make disciples and He will be with us. He wrote it plainly on scripture. It was His final great commission. It is serious business for him to make it His last words. So as a Christian man, I have to persevere and run the race marked out for me – to disciple my friends, my kids, my wife and the people God gives me along the way.
