Manage and Grow what God Gives You

Genesis 2:15  (NLT) 15 The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.

When I was twelve, I joined our inter-village basketball tournament. Being a tall 12-year-old, I was assigned to be the center of the team. During practice, the coach told me that I was responsible for my paint (the area near the ring). I was told that I needed to treat the paint like my own house. That was my assigned field. Nobody was supposed to get the rebound in my house–except me. Nobody was supposed to go into my house–without my permission. I took his command to heart. I did whatever it took to guard my house. I got a lot of rebounds, and I made sure nobody entered my house! We actually had a good run that year, finishing 2nd place in the tournament.

In the same way, God has given us men specific assignments that we need to cultivate and keep. We are responsible for these assignments. They are our calling. They are our duty. We have to learn to love them, embrace them, and not reject them.

So men, know your field and keep it, cultivate it and make it grow!
